Sonata Resurgir

Unaccompanied concert flute

A contemporary sonata for solo flute, composed in 2012, exploring personal transformation, the fragility of existence and the human capacity for renewal through music.

Resurgir is a sonata for solo flute composed by Alberto Rosas in 2012, during a period of profound personal transformation. The work grew out of an intimate experience in which the loss of former certainties became the beginning of a process of reflection, discovery and inner renewal.

Its conception is closely linked to philosophy, spirituality and the acceptance of change as an essential condition of existence. The teachings of people who played a decisive role in the composer’s development, together with philosophical writings and Rumi’s mystical poetry, helped shape a view of life as a process of continual transformation.

The title evokes the phoenix, a symbol of rebirth, but its meaning extends beyond overcoming adversity. Resurgir represents the possibility of finding a new understanding of ourselves after a rupture, transforming pain into expression and recognising the emergence of new possibilities within uncertainty.

Conceived for unaccompanied flute, the sonata transforms this human experience into an intimate musical statement about fragility, hope and the capacity to begin again.
