10 Cuban Dances – Complete Collection

Two concert flutes

The complete collection of ten original Cuban dances by Alberto Rosas for two flutes, bringing together the three Cuban Dances volumes and adding Pilón.

10 Cuban Dances brings together ten original compositions by Alberto Rosas for two flutes in a single edition, drawing on different musical genres and traditions of Cuba.

The collection includes the nine dances published in the three volumes of Cuban Dances — Mambo, Habanera, Guajira, Danzón, Bolero, Guaguancó, Son, Chachachá and Rumba — and adds a tenth piece: Pilón.

Through these compositions, the cycle offers a journey through the diversity of Cuban music, from its traditions of dance and lyrical expression to its popular and Afro-Cuban roots.

Throughout the collection, the two flutes bring these Cuban musical traditions into a contemporary chamber-music setting.

The collection makes it possible to discover and perform all ten dances within a single publication, preserving both the individuality of each composition and the unity of the cycle.

10 Cuban Dances is intended for flautists, teachers and chamber ensembles interested in exploring Cuban repertoire through original compositions for two instruments.
