Cuban Dances – Vol. III

Two concert flutes

Son, Chachachá and Rumba: three original compositions for two flutes that extend Cuban Dances’ journey through the musical world of Cuba.

Cuban Dances — Volume III completes Alberto Rosas’s three-volume series of Cuban dances for two flutes.

This publication brings together Son, Chachachá and Rumba, three titles connected to musical traditions that have made a decisive contribution to Cuba’s cultural identity and its international reach.

Son holds a fundamental place in the history of Cuban popular music; chachachá is one of its most recognisable dance forms, while rumba evokes a musical world with deep Afro-Cuban roots.

Drawing on these references, Alberto Rosas presents three original compositions conceived for two concert flutes.

The volume concludes the journey begun with Mambo, Habanera and Guajira and continued with Danzón, Bolero and Guaguancó, completing the nine compositions of the original three-volume series.

These works also form part of 10 Cuban Dances, the complete collection that adds a tenth composition: Pilón.
