Cuban Dances – Vol. II

Two concert flutes

Three original compositions for two flutes inspired by Danzón, Bolero and Guaguancó, three essential expressions of Cuba’s musical diversity.

Cuban Dances — Volume II continues Alberto Rosas’s journey through Cuban musical traditions with three original compositions for two flutes: Danzón, Bolero and Guaguancó.

The volume brings together three stylistic references with contrasting identities: danzón, closely linked to the history of Cuban dance music; bolero, associated with a tradition of lyrical and emotional expression; and guaguancó, rooted in the rhythmic world of Afro-Cuban rumba.

These three traditions come together in a chamber-music setting written for two flutes.

Through original compositions, the collection seeks to bring performers closer to the richness and diversity of Cuban genres, expanding the possibilities of the flute duet repertoire.

This second volume offers a different perspective from Cuban Dances — Volume I and forms part of a cycle of ten dances that is also available as a complete collection.
